The Municipal Chief Executive of Offinso Municipal Assembly, Solomon Kesseh has advised the newly sworn-in members of the assembly not to seek their personal interest ahead of the public good.
He said this at the inaugural ceremony held at the forecourt of the assembly on Thursday, 23rd January 2020. Mr Kesseh also urged them to work hard and discharge their duties void of partisanship.
His Worship Owusu Korkor Esq. from Asokwa Magistrate Court led the 30 elected members and 13 government appointees to swear the oath of allegiance and the oath of secrecy.
Hon. Hawa Koomson, the Minister for Special Development Initiative and M.P for Awutu Senya East constituency delivered the inaugural speech on behalf of President Akufo-Addo. In her speech, she charged the assembly members to be diligent, accountable and responsive to the needs of their people.
The colourful event brought together party executives, members of the traditional council, heads of departments, the staff of the assembly, media, and the general public.
The assembly, however, failed to elect a Presiding Member despite two rounds of election. None of the aspirants; Hon. Baah Emmanuel, Hon. Patience Owusu Amponsaa, Hon. Brefo Boahen Vegas, and Hon. Okoffo Asenso Emmanuel was able to poll two-thirds of the general house as required by law. The assembly is considering a new date to elect their PM
