6.0 MARKET SANITATION
Routine market sanitation was carried out at Aboffour, Anyinasuso New Town and Kokote, the major markets during the quarter by officers stationed in the various Zonal Councils. Market women were given health educated on how to protect cooked foods, fish, meat, gari, sugar etc. from flies and dust.
7.0 PUSHING, SPREADING AND LEVELING OF FINAL DUMP SITES
During the quarter, the unit supervised the pushing, spreading and leveling of one (1) dumping d sites at Kokote. The dumping site was full up and the stench coming out the from the heap was affecting the health of the inhabitants close to the site. The pushing was effected on 13th February, 2024.

7.0 CLEAN UP EXERCISES
Poor sanitation resulting from the practice of widespread open defecation and indiscriminate dumping of refuse has negative health and social impact on communities with consequence of typhoid, diarrhea and cholera etc. Community participation was borne out of the need of placing community members at the centre of the planning process with regard to environmental sanitation hence, Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit in collaboration with the traditional authorities, Hon. Assembly members, and unit committee members in Kokote, and Asamankama and New Town on 27th February, 2024, 22nd March, 2024 and 26th March, 2024. Activities include: De-silting of gutters and drains, Sweeping of streets,new palace premises water points, and Clearing of weeds along the streets, road and open space.

8.0 FUMIGATION AND DISINFECTION
During the quarter, a total of seven (7) communities’ sanitary sites, container sites, public drains, and some public institutions were fumigated / disinfected by the National Malaria Control Programme (NAMCOP) employees under Zoomlion Ghana Limited and supervised by the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit. These communities include: Asamankama, Namong, Saboa, Adukro, Kokote, New-town and Sakam . The exercise was aimed at controlling of adult mosquitoes and their larvae thereby reducing malaria infections in the municipal. Other vector carriers such as flies and cockroaches, being the main agents of communicable disease infections were also destroyed. 9.0 SOLID WASTE COLLECTION
Solid waste management was carried out during the quarter. This major service was provided by Zoomlion Ghana Limited with sweeping of streets, de-silting of gutters, market places and collection of domestic waste using the communal skip containers placed at vantage points within the area councils to ensure clean and safe environment at all times. Some of the communities enjoying these services are Newtown, Aboffour, Namong, Antoa, Aboasu, Maase, Old town, Atikaakum and others.

10.0 LIQUID WASTE MANAGEMENT
During the quarter, public toilets facilities were inspected to ensure that these facilities were in good conditions for public use. These facilities include water closet, Pour flash, vault chamber, and septic tank latrines. The table below shows the number and locations of these facilities within the district.

11.0 INVESTIGATION OF SANITARY COMPLAINS
