Offinso Municipal Assembly Engages Stakeholders for LEAP Programme Reassessment
The Offinso Municipal Assembly, a beneficiary of Ghana’s Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme, has embarked on a reassessment exercise as part of the nationwide strategy designed by the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection. This initiative, aimed at improving the programme’s efficiency and ensuring continued support for the most vulnerable households, commenced with a stakeholder sensitization meeting on Wednesday, 10th September 2024, at the Municipal Assembly Conference Hall.

The meeting, led by the Director of Social Welfare and Community Development, Madam Precious Lumorvi, involved the Municipal Planner, Statistician, Information Officer, and community focal persons. The stakeholders were briefed on the objectives and processes of the reassessment exercise, emphasizing the need for transparency and accuracy to ensure eligible households benefit from the programme. Participants were also educated on their roles in the upcoming validation and verification activities.

Ahead of this engagement, the Municipal LEAP Implementation Committee, chaired by the Municipal Coordinating Director, convened on Tuesday, 10th September, 2024. The session provided an overview of the reassessment framework, facilitated discussions on the roles of various actors, and addressed potential challenges. Key attendees included directors from the Health, Education, Agric, NHIA and Social Welfare departments, the Convenor of the Social Services Sub-Committee, a Municipal Planning Officer, faith-based organisation and a civil society representative.

The reassessment exercise aims to enhance the programme’s impact by updating beneficiary records and addressing inclusion and exclusion errors. This effort reflects the Assembly’s commitment to the sustainable development of its communities through equitable resource allocation and improved livelihoods.
