Welcome to Offinso Municipality
The Offinso Municipal is one of the 260 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in Ghana, and forms part of the 43 of MMDAs in the Ashanti Region and has its administrative capital as Offinso.
Offinso Municipal was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 1909 of 2007. It was carved out of the then Offinso Municipal and split into Offinso Municipal and the Offinso North District.
The Municipality is located in the extreme north-western part of the Ashanti Region and lies between longitudes 10 50 W and 10 45 E and latitudes 70 20 N and 60 50 S. It has a total land area of 585.7 square kilometres which is 2.4 percent of total land size of the Ashanti Region.
The Municipality shares common boundaries with Offinso North District in the north, Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipal in the east, Sekyere South District in the south-east, Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal and Ahafo Ano South West District in the west.
The population of the Municipality according to the 2010 Population and Housing Census stands at 76,895 with 37,068 males 39,827 females.

PROFILE OF
THE MUNICIPALITY
With a total land area of about 600km representing 2.5% of the region’s total land area, Offinso Municipal Assembly lies within latitude 7.15” N and 6.95” N and longitude 1.35” E and 1.50” E. It is located in the extreme north-western part of the Ashanti region. It is bounded in the south by Afigya Kwabre, Ahafo Ano South and Atwima Nwabiagya. It also shares boundaries with Ejura-Sekyedumasi on the east and Offinso North in the north. The population of the Municipality 76,895(2010PHC) with an annual growth rate of 3.5%. New Offinso is the Municipal Capital with about twenty-two (22) suburbs. Other major towns include Kyebi, Old Offinso, Bonsua, and Abofour.

COMPOSITION OF THE ASSEMBLY
The organogram of the Municipality provides for a three-tier system namely: The Municipal Assembly, Zonal Council and unit committees. The Member of Parliament (MP) for Offinso Constituency is also a member with no voting right.
COMMITTEES OF THE ASSEMBLY
The Assembly has Two (2) Statutory Committees which include Executive Committee with its under listed five (5) Sub-Committees Public Relations and Complaints Committee are: 1. Finance and Administration Sub-Committee 2. Works Sub-Committee 3. Development Planning Sub-Committee 4. Justice and Security Sub-Committee 5. Social Services Sub-Committee The Assembly also has the Statutory Planning Committee and the Municipal Security Council (MUSEC) which are in charge of spatial development and Security issues in the Municipality.
MUNICPAL ASSEMBLY SUB-STRUCTURES
In other to bring good governance to the doorstep of the local people, the Local Governance Act 2016 Act 936 also provides for the establishment of other structures below the Municipal Assembly. In this regards, the Offinso Municipal Assembly has Four (4) Zonal Councils. These include: New Town Zonal Council, Abofour Zonal Council, Bonsua Zonal Council, and Samproso Zonal Council
